CD137 ligand mRNA is an **experimental messenger RNA immunotherapy payload** that encodes **tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 9**, also known as **CD137 ligand**, **CD137L**, **4-1BB ligand**, or **4-1BBL**. After delivery and translation in transfected cells, the expressed transmembrane ligand is intended to bind **CD137** on activated T cells and natural killer cells, providing a co-stimulatory immune signal that can enhance proliferation, survival, cytokine production, and antitumor effector activity. The term is most specifically documented in preclinical oncology work in which CD137 ligand mRNA was co-electroporated with IL-12 mRNA into antitumor T cells to boost local immune activation after intratumoral administration. It does not appear to correspond to a uniquely named commercial or clinical-stage drug product, but rather to a research-stage mRNA construct or payload used in cancer immunotherapy experiments.
