Overview

CD138 CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by YaKe Biotechnology for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM). The therapy involves engineering T cells to express a CAR that specifically targets CD138 (also known as syndecan-1), a transmembrane heparin sulfate proteoglycan that is highly and consistently expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. CD138 plays a critical role in cell adhesion and the accumulation of survival signals within the bone marrow microenvironment. By binding to CD138, these engineered CAR-T cells are directed to recognize and eliminate multiple myeloma cells through a targeted cytotoxic immune response. The program is currently in the preclinical evaluation stage.
