CD19 + BCMA CAR T-cell therapy is a dual-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell immunotherapy designed to recognize and eliminate cells expressing either B-lymphocyte antigen CD19 or B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). This approach leverages genetically engineered autologous T cells that are modified to express synthetic receptors targeting both antigens. The dual specificity aims to enhance efficacy and reduce relapse by addressing tumor heterogeneity and preventing immune escape in diseases where both targets may be relevant. The primary indications under investigation include systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with lupus nephritis and multiple myeloma. Early clinical data show promising results in achieving durable complete remission in SLE with lupus nephritis[5][7]. Developers such as iCell Gene Therapeutics and Yake Biotechnology are advancing this modality through early-phase clinical trials.
