Overview

CD19-BCMA CAR-T cell infusion is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target both CD19 and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). CD19 is expressed on B-lineage cells, while BCMA is highly expressed on plasma cells and plasmablasts. By targeting both antigens, this dual-targeting CAR-T therapy aims to comprehensively deplete pathogenic B cells and antibody-producing plasma cells, offering a potential therapeutic approach for B-cell malignancies such as multiple myeloma, as well as autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis. Zhongshan People's Hospital, in collaboration with iCell Gene Therapeutics, has evaluated this therapy in Phase 1 clinical trials.
