Overview

CD19-BCMA CAR-T cells are an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Beijing GoBroad Hospital for the treatment of refractory autoimmune diseases. This dual-targeting CAR-T therapy simultaneously targets B-lymphocyte antigen CD19, a marker for B cells, and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), which is expressed on long-lived plasma cells. By depleting both B cells and plasma cells, the therapy aims to eliminate the source of pathogenic autoantibodies and reset the immune system. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for patients with refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with lupus nephritis, systemic sclerosis (SSc), and primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS) associated with pulmonary artery hypertension.
