CD19 CAR iNK cells are an off-the-shelf cellular therapy consisting of natural killer (NK) cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the CD19 antigen. Developed by Evotec, these cells are produced using a feeder-free 3D differentiation process from a validated GMP iPSC line. The therapy is designed to selectively eliminate CD19-positive B cells and plasma cells, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). By utilizing an iPSC-derived "iNK" platform, the product aims to provide a standardized, scalable alternative to autologous CAR-T cell therapies, potentially overcoming limitations related to cell dysfunction and manufacturing complexity in patients with autoimmune diseases.
