This investigational cell therapy consists of the sequential infusion of autologous anti-CD19 and anti-BCMA chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells. Developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, it is specifically designed to treat refractory immune-mediated platelet transfusion refractoriness (riPTR) in patients with acute leukemia. The dual-targeting approach aims to eliminate both CD19-positive B cells and BCMA-positive plasma cells, which are responsible for producing the alloantibodies that cause rapid clearance of transfused platelets. By depleting these antibody-producing populations, the therapy seeks to restore the efficacy of platelet transfusions and reduce bleeding risks in hematologic patients. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT04846439).
