Overview

CD19 CAR-T cells + BCMA CAR-T cells is an investigational dual-targeting autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Dr. He Huang for the treatment of refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis. The therapy involves the sequential administration of T cells engineered to target CD19, a marker on B cells, and BCMA (B-cell maturation antigen), which is expressed on plasma cells and plasmablasts. This dual-target approach is intended to comprehensively deplete the B-cell lineage, including the long-lived plasma cells responsible for producing pathogenic autoantibodies, thereby inducing clinical remission in patients who have failed standard immunosuppressive treatments. In early clinical studies, this sequential infusion strategy has shown the potential to achieve a deep 'immune reset' in patients with severe, treatment-resistant autoimmune disease.
