Overview

CD19 CARvac is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by iCell Gene Therapeutics. It is designed to target the CD19 antigen, a cell surface protein highly expressed on the majority of B-cell malignancies, including various forms of leukemia and lymphoma. The therapy involves the genetic modification of T cells to express a chimeric receptor that specifically recognizes CD19, enabling the immune cells to identify and eliminate malignant B cells. In clinical settings, CD19 CARvac T cells are administered intravenously, typically following a regimen of lymphodepleting chemotherapy to facilitate the expansion and persistence of the engineered cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies.
