CD19-directed CAR-T (IL-18 expressing) is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by The Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. This cell-based biologic consists of patient-derived T cells genetically modified to express a CAR specific for the CD19 antigen, a marker prevalent on B-cell malignancies. Additionally, the cells are engineered to co-express interleukin-18 (IL-18), a pro-inflammatory cytokine designed to augment the anti-tumor immune response, improve the expansion and persistence of the CAR-T cells, and modulate the tumor microenvironment. The therapy is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for various B-cell malignancies and other cancers.
