Overview

CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor-modified T cells (CD19 CAR-T) are an autologous cell therapy designed to target and eliminate CD19-expressing B-cell malignancies. The therapy involves harvesting a patient's T cells, genetically engineering them to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific to the CD19 antigen, and infusing them back into the patient. Upon binding to CD19 on target cells, the CAR-T cells undergo activation, proliferation, and mediate targeted cytotoxicity against B-cell lymphoma and leukemia cells. This platform is being evaluated in clinical trials, including a phase 1/2 study by the Institute of Hematology at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphoma.
