Overview

CD19.CAR-VST is an investigational allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy developed by Baylor College of Medicine for the treatment of CD19-positive B-cell malignancies, including B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and B-cell lymphoma. The therapy utilizes donor-derived virus-specific T cells (VSTs) that are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the CD19 protein. This dual-specificity approach allows the T cells to recognize and eliminate CD19-positive tumor cells via the CAR, while simultaneously targeting cells infected with cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and adenovirus through their native T-cell receptors (TCRs). Designed primarily for patients who have relapsed after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), the therapy aims to provide potent antitumor activity and control post-transplant viral infections without inducing significant graft-versus-host disease (GvHD).
