Overview

CD226-armoured CAR-T cell therapy is an experimental chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Q-Gen Cell Therapeutics, the manufacturing arm of the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. The therapy involves T cells that are genetically modified to target cells expressing CD226 (also known as DNAM-1), a protein often involved in immune cell activation. This specific construct is 'armoured,' meaning it includes additional genetic modifications designed to enhance the T cells' ability to survive and function within the immunosuppressive environment of solid tumors. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is being pursued in collaboration with an undisclosed partner to address various solid malignancies.
