Overview

CD24 shRNA is a preclinical research-stage RNA interference (RNAi) construct designed to silence the expression of the CD24 gene. CD24 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface protein that is frequently overexpressed in various human malignancies, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, survival, and metastasis. By utilizing the endogenous RNAi machinery, CD24 shRNA mediates the sequence-specific degradation of CD24 mRNA, leading to reduced protein levels. Preclinical studies in models of prostate, bladder, ovarian, and colorectal cancers have demonstrated that knockdown of CD24 inhibits tumor growth, reduces metastatic potential, and induces apoptosis. It is primarily utilized as a laboratory tool and research reagent rather than a clinical-stage therapeutic asset.
