This preclinical-stage small molecule program is being developed by the Leuven Centre for Drug Design and Discovery (CD3) for applications in oncology and immuno-oncology. The program focuses on the modulation of an undisclosed myeloid receptor to alter the immune landscape of the tumor microenvironment. Myeloid cells, such as tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), are known to facilitate tumor progression and immune evasion. By targeting specific receptors on these cells, the small molecule aims to switch their functional state from immunosuppressive to immunostimulatory, thereby enhancing the body's natural anti-tumor immune response and potentially synergizing with existing checkpoint inhibitors.
