CD30.CAR-EBVST cells are an allogeneic cell therapy product consisting of Epstein-Barr virus-specific T cells (EBVSTs) genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the cell surface protein CD30. The therapy is designed as an off-the-shelf immunotherapy for patients with relapsed or refractory CD30-positive lymphomas, such as Hodgkin lymphoma. The CAR enables these T cells to specifically recognize and kill tumor cells expressing CD30 while retaining their native antiviral specificity and function through the endogenous EBV-specific T cell receptor. This dual specificity allows for enhanced persistence and antitumor activity without causing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a common complication in allogeneic therapies[1][2][5]. Early clinical studies have shown promising safety and efficacy profiles with high response rates and minimal severe toxicities[5].
