Overview

CD33 TRAILBody is an antibody-based therapeutic candidate developed by Trio Biotech for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). It utilizes the company's proprietary TRAILBody platform, which fuses a CD33-targeting antibody with TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) to selectively induce apoptosis in CD33-positive malignant cells. By binding to CD33, the drug localizes to the tumor site and triggers the extrinsic cell death pathway through the activation of death receptors DR4 and DR5. This approach is designed to enhance efficacy and reduce off-target toxicity, positioning the agent for potential use as a first-line treatment or in combination with existing therapies. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage.
