Overview

CD33 UCAR-T cell injection is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD33 antigen (Siglec-3), which is highly expressed on the surface of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) blasts. Developed by Zhongshan People's Hospital, this universal CAR-T (UCAR-T) product is derived from healthy donor T cells and engineered to express a CAR specific for CD33. To facilitate universal administration and reduce the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and host-mediated rejection, the cells typically undergo gene editing to disrupt the T-cell receptor (TCR) and/or HLA molecules. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 0 clinical trial in China for patients with relapsed or refractory CD33-positive AML to assess safety, tolerability, and in vivo persistence.
