CD33 UCAR-T cells are an allogeneic, off-the-shelf chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD33 antigen (Siglec-3), which is highly expressed on the surface of myeloid leukemia cells. Developed by Zhongshan People's Hospital, these universal CAR-T (UCAR-T) cells are typically engineered from healthy donor T-cells and modified using gene-editing technologies to eliminate the endogenous T-cell receptor (TCR) to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). The therapy is being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
