CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells

CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells are a population of multipotent stem and progenitor cells characterized by the expression of the surface antigen CD34. These cells are capable of self-renewal and differentiation into all blood cell lineages, including erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, and lymphocytes. The presence of the CD34 marker is widely used to identify and isolate these stem/progenitor cells for clinical applications such as bone marrow or stem cell transplantation[1][8][9]. In addition to their role in reconstituting the hematopoietic system after chemotherapy or radiation therapy (e.g., in leukemia or lymphoma), they have demonstrated pro-angiogenic properties that support new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) and tissue repair[4][6].
