CD34+ selected allogeneic hematopoietic stem cells are a cell therapy product used as a donor stem cell boost for patients experiencing persistent cytopenias (neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, and lymphopenia) following an initial allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Developed and administered at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University, this therapy utilizes the CliniMACS CD34 Reagent System by Miltenyi Biotec to immunomagnetically select and enrich CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells from a donor's peripheral blood apheresis product. This process simultaneously depletes T cells to minimize the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). The enriched stem cells are intended to enhance hematopoietic reconstitution and restore normal blood cell counts in the recipient.
