CD38 CAR-T cells (Chinese PLA General Hospital) is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target CD38, a transmembrane glycoprotein highly expressed on malignant B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) cells. Developed by researchers at the Chinese PLA General Hospital, this cell-based immunotherapy is specifically intended for patients with relapsed or refractory B-ALL, particularly those who have failed prior CD19-directed CAR-T cell therapies and may have experienced CD19-negative relapse. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR construct that recognizes CD38, enabling the targeted identification and elimination of leukemic cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials to determine its safety, feasibility, and therapeutic potential in this high-risk patient population.
