CD40.RBDv is a recombinant subunit protein vaccine candidate designed as a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine. It targets the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and is engineered to enhance immune responses by targeting the antigen to the CD40 receptor on antigen-presenting cells. The vaccine can be administered with or without an adjuvant and is being evaluated as a booster in healthy volunteers. Its mechanism leverages both direct presentation of viral antigens and immunostimulatory effects via engagement of the CD40 pathway, which plays a key role in activating B cells, dendritic cells, and other components of adaptive immunity[1][2][7].
