Overview
CD40.RBDv vaccine + Hiltonol is an investigational subunit protein vaccine combination being developed for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. The vaccine component, CD40.RBDv, is a recombinant protein that fuses the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to a monoclonal antibody targeting the CD40 receptor on antigen-presenting cells, particularly dendritic cells. This targeted approach is designed to optimize the induction of robust T and B cell responses and establish long-term immune memory. Hiltonol (poly-ICLC), a synthetic double-stranded RNA and Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) agonist, is used as an adjuvant to enhance the vaccine's immunogenicity. The combination is currently being evaluated in the SOLVE-01 Phase 1 clinical trial as a booster dose in healthy adults previously vaccinated with mRNA vaccines.
