CD4802 is a small molecule glucocorticoid receptor (GR) agonist developed by Galderma R&D for the topical treatment of atopic dermatitis. As a selective agonist, CD4802 was designed to maintain the potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects of traditional corticosteroids while potentially minimizing common localized side effects, such as skin atrophy, and systemic risks like hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. The compound reached Phase 2 clinical development, where it was studied as a 0.1% ointment in a randomized, vehicle-controlled trial (EudraCT 2014-004148-11) involving adult patients with atopic dermatitis. The study focused on evaluating the efficacy and safety of the treatment on target lesions over a four-week period. Although the Phase 2a trial was completed in 2015, there has been no recent public evidence of further clinical progression, suggesting the program may no longer be active in Galderma's pipeline.
