CD5 CAR-NK cells (SRCD5CAR-NK) is an investigational adoptive cellular immunotherapy developed by Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona-IDIBAPS for the treatment of refractory invasive mold disease (IMD). Unlike conventional CAR-NK therapies that target the CD5 antigen on malignant T cells, this construct utilizes the extracellular domain of the human CD5 scavenger receptor as the antigen-binding component of the chimeric antigen receptor. This allows the NK cells to leverage the natural β-glucan-binding properties of CD5 to recognize and attack fungal cell wall components. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy against various pathogenic fungi, including *Aspergillus*, *Candida*, *Cryptococcus*, and *Fusarium* species. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 first-in-human clinical trial.
