CD5 CAR T cells are an investigational, autologous cell therapy in which patient T-cells are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically recognizes the CD5 antigen present on the surface of malignant T-cells. The primary mechanism of action is targeted cytotoxicity against CD5-expressing tumor cells. MB-105 is a proprietary CD5 CAR T-cell product developed by March Biosciences, currently in clinical development for relapsed/refractory CD5-positive T-cell lymphoma and other CD5-positive hematologic malignancies. Preclinical and clinical studies show selective targeting of malignant T-cells while preserving some normal T-cell function. MB-105 (CD5 CAR T cells) recently received FDA Orphan Drug Designation for T-cell lymphoma and is advancing in phase 2 clinical trials.
