CD6A HER2 CAR T cells are an experimental cellular immunotherapy consisting of T cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2), combined with the overexpression of the canonical full-length CD6 isoform (CD6A). CD6 is a T-cell co-receptor that modulates T-cell receptor (TCR) signal strength through its intracellular domain. Research conducted at the Baylor College of Medicine suggests that while CD6A overexpression provides marginal functional improvement compared to other isoforms like CD6F, it still plays a stimulatory role in CAR T-cell function. These cells are being investigated for the treatment of HER2-positive solid tumors, including glioblastoma.
