Overview

CD6F HER2 CAR T cells are an experimental chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to treat solid tumors, with a primary focus on glioblastoma. These cells are engineered to target the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) and are further modified to overexpress the CD6F isoform, an alternatively spliced variant of the CD6 adhesion molecule that lacks exon 9. The inclusion of CD6F is intended to improve the metabolic plasticity and functional durability of the T cells by tuning their activation thresholds and reducing exhaustion caused by tonic signaling. Preclinical studies in orthotopic glioblastoma models have shown that CD6F HER2 CAR T cells provide superior anti-tumor control and survival compared to standard CAR T cells. The therapy is being developed by researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.
