YaKe Biotechnology's CD7-directed CAR-T cell therapy is an autologous or allogeneic cellular immunotherapy designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory T-cell malignancies, including T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell lymphomas. The therapy consists of T cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that targets the CD7 antigen, a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant T cells. To address the challenge of 'fratricide'—where CAR-T cells target each other due to the natural expression of CD7 on healthy T cells—YaKe utilizes an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) retention technique to prevent the surface expression of CD7 on the therapeutic cells. Clinical evaluations in Phase 1 trials have demonstrated significant efficacy, particularly in achieving high complete remission rates in patients with bone marrow involvement.
