CD7-targeted CAR-T cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD7 protein, which is highly expressed in various T-cell malignancies and some myeloid leukemias. Developed as part of an investigator-initiated trial (IIT) led by Donghua Zhang, these T cells are genetically modified to express a CAR that recognizes and binds to CD7-positive tumor cells, triggering T-cell activation and subsequent tumor cell destruction. The therapy is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory (r/r) CD7-positive hematological malignancies, including acute T-lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), T-lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
