Overview

CD70 HIT T cells are an experimental adoptive cell therapy utilizing a highly sensitive HLA-independent T cell receptor (HIT receptor) to target the CD70 antigen. Developed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, these cells are designed to overcome tumor antigen heterogeneity in solid tumors, specifically renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Unlike traditional CAR-T cells, HIT T cells can recognize and eliminate tumor cells expressing ultra-low levels of CD70 that are otherwise invisible to standard chimeric antigen receptors. In preclinical models of clear cell RCC, CD70 HIT T cells demonstrated the ability to eradicate residual tumor populations that relapsed after treatment with conventional CD70 or CAIX CAR-T cells, leading to complete and long-lasting cures.
