CD79b CAR-T cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Zhejiang University for the treatment of B-cell malignancies. The therapy consists of autologous T cells genetically modified to express a CAR targeting CD79b, a transmembrane protein that forms part of the B-cell receptor (BCR) complex and is highly expressed on the surface of mature B cells and most B-cell lymphomas and leukemias. By targeting CD79b, these engineered T cells are designed to recognize and eliminate malignant B cells. This specific murine-derived CAR-T construct is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (B-NHL).
