Overview

CD8+NKG2D+ AKT cell is a preparation of human CD8-positive tumor-specific T lymphocytes that have been genetically engineered to express both the natural killer (NK) cell activating receptor NKG2D and the serine/threonine kinase AKT. This modification endows the cells with enhanced immunomodulatory and antitumor properties. The NKG2D receptor acts as a potent co-stimulatory molecule, enabling these T cells to recognize stress-induced ligands on tumor cells, thereby promoting their cytotoxic activity. Overexpression of AKT further augments T-cell survival, proliferation, and effector function. This therapy is being developed primarily for cancer treatment as an adoptive cellular immunotherapy[1][3].
