CD87-Targeted CAR-T Cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy designed for the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). This therapy engineers T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes CD87, a receptor for the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA). CD87 is highly upregulated in CRC, while its expression is minimal in most normal tissues, suggesting it as a potentially safe and effective target to mitigate on-target/off-tumor toxicity, a common challenge in CAR-T therapy for solid tumors. In preliminary in vitro studies, these CAR-T cells demonstrated strong and specific cytotoxicity against CD87-positive colorectal cancer cell lines.
