Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CD9-blocking antibodies are monoclonal antibodies designed to target and inhibit CD9 (tetraspanin-29), a cell-surface glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion, migration, and tumor progression. In hematological malignancies, CD9 is upregulated via the STAT5B pathway in leukemic stem cells (LSCs), promoting self-renewal and survival. Blocking CD9 disrupts these pathways, inducing differentiation and apoptosis in STAT5-dependent leukemia cells. Additionally, CD9-blocking antibodies are being investigated for their potential to inhibit metastasis and modulate immune cell infiltration in solid tumors.
