CD99 CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy engineered to target the CD99 protein, a membrane glycoprotein highly expressed in certain cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML), Ewing sarcoma, and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). The therapy involves collecting a patient's T cells and genetically modifying them ex vivo to express a synthetic receptor that specifically recognizes the CD99 antigen on tumor cells. Upon reinfusion into the patient, these modified T cells bind to CD99-expressing cancer cells and induce cytotoxicity through direct killing mechanisms such as perforin/granzyme release and cytokine secretion. This approach aims to harness the immune system for targeted elimination of malignant cells expressing CD99[2][3].
