Overview

This is a combination of two peptide-based cancer immunotherapies targeting tumor-associated antigens (TAAs): cell division cycle associated 1 (CDCA1) and kinesin family member 20A (KIF20A). Both are overexpressed in various cancers. The therapy uses synthetic long peptides derived from these antigens to stimulate both helper T cell (TH1) and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses. These vaccines aim to induce robust anti-tumor immunity by promoting cross-presentation of the antigens, leading to activation of tumor-specific CTLs and TH1 cells that secrete interferon-gamma, interleukin-2, TNF-alpha, GM-CSF, and CCL4. Clinical studies have shown enhanced immune responses in cancer patients vaccinated with these epitopes. This approach is being investigated primarily for solid tumors such as pancreatic cancer but may be relevant for other malignancies overexpressing these TAAs[1][3][5].
