Overview

CDD-2107 is a botanical drug candidate developed by the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development (CDD) at Hong Kong Baptist University for the treatment of myofibrillar myopathy, specifically BAG3 gene-related myofibrillar myopathy (Bag3opathy). Derived from the traditional Chinese herbal medicine Chaenomelis Fructus, the drug was identified using multi-omics and artificial intelligence screening technologies to clarify its therapeutic targets. It aims to improve muscle strength, mobility, and independence in patients with this rare hereditary neuromuscular disorder. In 2024, it became the first botanical drug from Hong Kong to receive Orphan Drug Designation from the US FDA.
