Overview

CDD866 is a murinized version of bimagrumab, which is a neutralizing antibody against the activin receptor type II (ActRII). It works by preventing the binding of ligands such as myostatin and activin A, which are involved in muscle wasting conditions like cancer cachexia. The drug has been studied extensively in various preclinical models, particularly for its effects on muscle preservation and growth. In cancer cachexia models, CDD866 has shown efficacy in protecting against skeletal muscle weight loss, even when administered alongside anti-cancer treatments like cisplatin and everolimus. CDD866 has also demonstrated benefits in combination with incretin-based therapies for weight management. When added to treatments like tirzepatide, semaglutide, or liraglutide, it enhanced weight loss while improving body composition by promoting fat mass loss and muscle mass gain. Additionally, research has shown that CDD866 can improve cardiac function in models of heart failure and aging, reducing pulmonary congestion and enhancing left ventricular function.
