CDI-988

CDI-988 is a potent, oral, broad-spectrum antiviral small molecule developed by Cocrystal Pharma. It acts as a first-in-class pan-viral protease inhibitor targeting a highly conserved region in the active site of 3-chymotrypsin-like (3CL) viral proteases found in noroviruses, coronaviruses (including SARS-CoV-2), and other related viruses. The drug was designed using Cocrystal’s proprietary structure-based drug discovery platform technology. CDI-988 is being developed for both prophylaxis and treatment of viral gastroenteritis caused by noroviruses and COVID-19 caused by coronaviruses. It has demonstrated pan-viral activity against multiple norovirus strains, including genogroup II genotype 4 (GII.4), which are responsible for severe vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Phase 1 clinical trials have shown favorable safety and tolerability up to high doses with plans for further human challenge studies in norovirus-infected subjects[1][2][4][5][6][8].
