Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CDiffControl is an oral antibody immunotherapy being developed by ImmuniMed for the prevention of *Clostridioides difficile* infection (CDI). The treatment utilizes polyclonal avian IgY antibodies derived from the eggs of immunized hens, a technology ImmuniMed has refined since 1997. These antibodies are designed to neutralize *C. difficile* toxins A and B, which are the primary virulence factors responsible for the symptoms and severity of the disease. By providing passive immunity directly in the gastrointestinal tract, CDiffControl aims to protect high-risk patients—such as those undergoing broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment or the elderly in hospital settings—from developing an initial infection. The product represents a paradigm shift in CDI management by focusing on prevention rather than treatment of active infection.
