Overview

CDP791 + carboplatin + paclitaxel is a combination therapy that was investigated primarily for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This combination consists of CDP791, a novel VEGFR-2 inhibitor, along with the established chemotherapy agents carboplatin and paclitaxel. CDP791 is a PEGylated di-Fab' conjugate that specifically binds to vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), blocking its activation by ligands such as VEGF-A, VEGF-C, and VEGF-D. This mechanism differs from other marketed VEGF inhibitors as it specifically targets VEGFR-2, a key component in the angiogenesis pathway involved in forming new blood vessels that support tumor growth.
