CDT-raloxifene

CDT-raloxifene is a controlled-release formulation of the selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) raloxifene, developed by Celsion Corporation using its proprietary Controlled Delivery Technology (CDT). The CDT platform utilizes a polymer-based matrix to regulate the release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient, aiming to provide more consistent plasma levels and potentially improve the safety and efficacy profile compared to immediate-release versions. Raloxifene itself acts as an estrogen agonist in bone, where it helps maintain bone mineral density, and as an antagonist in breast and uterine tissues, making it useful for the prevention of osteoporosis and the reduction of breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women. Development of the CDT-raloxifene formulation was terminated as Celsion transitioned its strategic focus toward oncology-focused thermal treatment and immunotherapy platforms.
