It is a product of Codexis's CodeEvolver protein engineering platform, designed to optimize the activity, stability, and manufacturability of the encoded enzyme—**alpha-galactosidase A (GLA)**, correcting the underlying enzymatic deficiency in Fabry disease patients. CDX-6311 was licensed to Takeda for integration into gene therapy constructs, with Takeda providing gene-therapy research capabilities and manufacturing. In 2024, Codexis’s gene therapy assets for Fabry disease, including CDX-6311, were acquired by Crosswalk Therapeutics. Its principal mechanism is to encode and enhance the function of the GLA enzyme, with preclinical and early-phase studies conducted to evaluate its safety and efficacy[1][2][3][4][8][11].
