CEA-pulsed dendritic cells (National Taiwan University Hospital) is an investigational autologous cellular immunotherapy developed for the treatment of advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer. The therapy involves harvesting a patient's own mononuclear cells and differentiating them into dendritic cells, which are then pulsed ex vivo with the whole carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) protein. These antigen-loaded dendritic cells function as potent antigen-presenting cells designed to stimulate a targeted T-cell mediated immune response against CEA-expressing tumor cells. In clinical trial protocols, the dendritic cells are mixed with tetanus toxoid as an adjuvant to enhance the immune response and are typically followed by low-dose subcutaneous interleukin-2 (IL-2) to promote the growth and activity of the induced T cells.
