Overview

CEA-specific CAR-T cells are a class of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies engineered to target carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA, also known as CEACAM5 or CD66e), a tumor-associated antigen highly expressed on a broad range of solid tumors including colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, lung, and breast cancers. The therapy involves genetically modifying a patient's T cells to express a CAR construct containing an anti-CEA single-chain variable fragment (scFv) fused to T-cell signaling domains, enabling the redirected T cells to recognize and kill CEA-expressing tumor cells in an HLA-independent manner. Multiple academic institutions and biotechnology groups have developed their own versions of CEA-specific CAR-T cells, including Chongqing Precision Biotech, Sorrento Therapeutics, and various academic medical centers.
