CEA31 is a clinical-grade mouse monoclonal antibody clone that specifically targets the human carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), also known as CEACAM5. CEA is a 180 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked cell surface glycoprotein that functions as an intracellular adhesion molecule and is a well-established tumor marker. CEA31 is widely utilized in diagnostic pathology, particularly in immunohistochemistry (IHC), to detect CEA expression in various epithelial malignancies. It is highly effective in identifying adenocarcinomas of the colon, pancreas, lung, and stomach, especially in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections. Due to its high sensitivity and specificity, CEA31 is frequently used as a gold-standard reference reagent in clinical diagnostics and for validating the performance of novel CEA-targeting molecules, such as affibodies or other antibody fragments.
