CEB-01 is an implantable, biocompatible and resorbable polymeric PLGA (poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)) nanofiber membrane designed for local drug delivery. It contains the active substance SN-38, which is the active metabolite of irinotecan and a potent inhibitor of DNA topoisomerase I. The membrane is placed directly into the surgical bed after tumor resection to provide a steady and prolonged local release of SN-38 at the site most at risk for recurrence. This approach aims to maximize local disease control while minimizing systemic toxicity compared to conventional chemotherapy. CEB-01 has been developed primarily for use in soft tissue sarcoma (including leiomyosarcoma and liposarcoma) as well as pancreatic cancer, with ongoing clinical trials in both adult and pediatric populations[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
