Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cebion is an over-the-counter vitamin C preparation whose active ingredient is ascorbic acid, a water-soluble vitamin essential for collagen synthesis, carnitine and catecholamine biosynthesis, and numerous redox reactions. It is used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin C deficiency and scurvy, and as an antioxidant support in conditions associated with increased oxidative stress, impaired wound and bone healing, or increased requirements, including infections and after surgery.[1][3][5][9][11][13] Ascorbic acid acts as a reducing agent and free-radical scavenger, supports immune function, enhances non‑heme iron absorption, and helps maintain connective tissue integrity by serving as a cofactor for prolyl and lysyl hydroxylases in collagen maturation.[3][9][11][13] Cebion is marketed in multiple oral dosage forms (drops, chewable and effervescent tablets) for adults and children and is a long‑standing vitamin C brand historically associated with companies such as Merck and Bracco in various markets.[4][6][10][12][14][15]
